The group has been awarded funding from the Defence and Security Accelerator to create microbial consortiums to degrade waste hydrocarbons and make useful products. We will also work with polymer chemists at the University to make biodegradable foams from the algal biomass. As part of the project one PDRA will focus on the cultivation of microbes and another PDRA on the techno economic assessment.
