Hugely successful metaproteomics workshop in Sheffield

It was called "New Approaches to Resolving Community Metaproteomes: ComProt", but it achieved much, much more. This two day meeting was the perfect size to exchange ideas on how to build reliable metaproteomics pipelines for discovering new information about environmental microbiomes. We had Dirk Benndorf from the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems to push us UK researchers into developing this often "lagging" omics field, as well as genuine pull from Yasset Perez-Riverol at the European Bioinformatics Institute on how we can learn from existing informatics approaches. We thank all attendees for such fruitful discussions and a very enjoyable Lebanese meal in the evening! (and of course a quick drink in the Red Deer pub). We plan to generate a report on the findings which can be presented to UKRI on where this field should be going in the future...
