Algae Conference in Boulder, USA 2019

AlgalBBB was a good conference, a very good conference indeed. In amidst the beautiful setting in Colorado, together with excellent company, food and drinks, was an array of fantastic and inspiring scientific presentations.

The event was the right size too, which can be tricky with conferences in the USA. My highlights were presentations in cell engineering (tools and applications), resource/waste use, and of course, some omics thrown in. The techno economic assessments were also insightful. More unexpected were the incredible algae educational programs the Americans have endorsed with lots of funding, and a historical investigation into algae growing, post World War II, between Japan and USA. I seriously recommend this conference for all algae nerds.
